Who is CMM?
CMM is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that internationally serves children who are indigent and impoverished by partnering with reputable, well-established Christian ministries working in communities where needs have been identified for children.
What is CMM?
CMM was founded in 1988 and is currently administered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, consisting of a diverse group of healthcare and charity professionals. CMM’s board meets quarterly and is advised by a Christian attorney. Their united goal is to be transparent and responsible regarding the best use of donations.
Meet the CMM team
Alvin Miller is our CEO and has been involved with CMM for over 25 years. He has been blessed to be on multiple missions including to Honduras, Haiti, Thailand, Columbia, Central America, Vietnam, and India.
Alvin lives in Virginia with his wife, Esther, of over 60 years. He is from an Amish Mennonite background and is retired from carpentry and excavation, both of which taught him the importance of hard work and generous giving to those in need.
Alvin states he is thankful to serve as a board member as he believes in CMM’s mission to share the Gospel by meeting physical needs.
Mary Tieken has been involved with CMM for over 25 years as an advisor and spokesperson on multiple mission trips. Mary has represented CMM on mission trips to Kenya, Tanzania, Columbia, Peru, India, Guatemala, and Ecuador. She has had a passion for helping poor children both in her community in Quincy Illinois, as well as impoverished countries around the world. As a lifelong educator, she has been an advocate of educating children while sharing the love of Jesus. She developed the “Good Life Coloring Book” which has been translated into multiple languages and used around the world to teach Godly principles in personal hygiene to children.
Carrie Cook has been involved with CMM for over 20 years and on our board since 2021. She is a physical therapist and has volunteered her skills on multiple mission trips providing wheelchairs for disabled children and adults as a representative of CMM to Tanzania, Kenya, Guatemala, and Ecuador. Carrie is the wife of Marty, as well as a mother of three and grandmother of four, and all but the grandchildren have been involved in the short-term mission trips with Carrie. She is passionate about CMM’s work in reaching children in the poorest of countries by meeting physical needs and sharing Christ’s love.
Justine Thole is a Speech and Language Pathologist from southern Illinois and has been involved with CMM since 2022. She is married, and the mother of two children. Justine has volunteered her skills as a speech pathologist in Guatemala with educating and provide communication devices for the disabled. She volunteers her professional and business skills for CMM to bring Christ’s love and meet the physical, social, and educational needs of children in the poorest countries around the world.
Julie Gordon is the President of CMM and has been involved with CMM since 2002, and on the board since 2021. Julie is a physical therapist and has volunteered her skills on multiple mission trips to provide custom-fitted wheelchairs to disabled children and adults. She has served on short-term mission trips to Guatemala, Ecuador, Tanzania, Kenya, Israel, Romania, and Vietnam. She is honored to join CMM in providing physical, educational, and spiritual assistance to the poorest of children around the world.
